I take a small number of engagements directly. They fall into four shapes — and if what you need is not one of them, I would rather tell you that on the first call than three weeks in.

Platform migration

4–8 weeks

Moving a live dialer to new infrastructure without losing dialing time — parallel build, rehearsed cutover, reversible at every step.

What's included

  • Audit of the running system, including undocumented local modifications
  • Parallel platform built and load-tested before anything live is touched
  • Carrier trunks migrated individually so each is verifiable and reversible
  • Campaign-by-campaign agent cutover, scheduled around your shifts
  • Runbooks and handover training for your own operations team

You are on ageing hardware, an unsupported build, or a host you need to leave — and the floor cannot go dark.

Diagnostic & rescue

2–4 weeks

Something is wrong, it is costing money, and the obvious explanation has not fixed it. I find the actual cause.

What's included

  • Instrumentation of the dial pipeline to separate symptoms from causes
  • Answering-machine detection tuned against your own labelled recordings
  • Pacing rebuilt per campaign against measured agent-availability curves
  • Written findings covering what was wrong, what I changed, and what remains

Right for you if

Abandon rates, drop rates, connect rates or call quality have moved in the wrong direction and nobody can say why.

Architecture review

1–2 weeks

An honest assessment of what your platform will do under the load you are planning for, and what breaks first when it gets there.

What's included

  • Capacity modelling against concurrent channels rather than agent headcount
  • Failure-mode analysis: what breaks first, second and third, and what each costs
  • Database, dialer, web tier and carrier-side limits assessed separately
  • Prioritised remediation plan with effort and impact against each item

Right for you if

You are planning to grow substantially and want to know whether the current design survives it.

Compliance engineering

2–3 weeks

Making TCPA, DNC and regional calling rules structural properties of the dial plan rather than things people are asked to remember.

What's included

  • DNC scrubbing implemented as a hard gate ahead of the dial list
  • Per-state and per-country calling windows encoded into the dial plan
  • Abandon-rate measurement corrected for detection misclassification
  • Scheduled reporting so exposure is visible daily, not quarterly

Common questions

The things people ask on the first call, answered before it.

Do you work onsite?

No — remote only, every engagement.

That includes the big ones. Migrations, rescues and architecture reviews all run remotely, because call-centre infrastructure is remote-accessible by definition; if it were not, nobody could run a distributed floor on it in the first place. The work happens over SSH, screen shares and your ticketing system, the same way your own team already operates.

In practice it also means I can be looking at your platform the hour we agree to start, rather than the week I can next get on a plane.

What does an engagement cost?Draft

PLACEHOLDER — replace with your actual commercial terms. Prospects ask this first and a vague answer costs you more calls than a high number does.

Worth stating: whether you price fixed-scope or daily, a rough range per engagement type, and what triggers a re-scope.

How soon can you start?Draft

PLACEHOLDER — replace with your real lead time, e.g. "usually within two weeks; emergencies sooner".

If you hold capacity for urgent rescues, say so here — it is a genuine differentiator when someone is losing money today.

Will you sign our NDA and work under our contract?Draft

PLACEHOLDER — confirm your position on NDAs, MSAs, client paper versus your own, and any insurance or compliance documentation you can provide.

Regulated clients in collections and healthcare will ask this before anything else.

Do you replace our team, or work with them?

Work with them. The goal of every engagement is that you do not need me afterwards.

That means your engineers are in the work as it happens rather than receiving it at the end, and every engagement closes with documentation, runbooks and handover training. A platform only I understand is a worse outcome than the problem you started with.

What access do you need?

Root or equivalent on the platform, read access to reporting, and ideally a staging or parallel environment to work in before anything touches production.

Where it makes sense I start read-only — the diagnostic phase of most rescues needs nothing but the ability to look. Write access comes when there is something specific to change and you know what it is.

Do you work with platforms other than VICIdial?

VICIdial and Asterisk are where I am deepest, and that is what most people come to me for.

Adjacent stacks — carrier routing, SIP infrastructure, CRM integration — are part of nearly every engagement regardless of the dialer. If you are on something else entirely, ask; the first call is free and the answer is sometimes no.

What if it turns out you cannot help?

Then I tell you on the first call, which costs you nothing.

I would rather lose the engagement than take one I am the wrong person for. When I know who is a better fit, I say so.
